Day 1: Welcome to Gangtok – Your Gateway to Serenity
Your Gangtok itinerary begins with your arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) or Bagdogra Airport (IXB). As your experienced tour guide, I extend a warm welcome. Our friendly representative will drive you to the enchanting town of Gangtok, nestled at 1437 meters above sea level. After checking in at your hotel, take some time to freshen up and unwind. In the evening, why not go for a leisurely stroll along MG Marg, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere? You’ll spend a comfortable night at the hotel.
Day 2: Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir, and the Majestic Nathula Pass
After a hearty breakfast, our adventure begins at around 8 – 8:30 am. We’ll head to Tsomgo Lake, a sacred and breathtakingly beautiful spot nestled at 12,400 feet above sea level. This lake transforms its appearance with the changing seasons, from a snowy wonderland in winter to a colorful paradise surrounded by blooming flowers in spring. Our journey will also take us to Baba Harbhajan Mandir, dedicated to the brave soldier Baba Harbhajan Singh, who lost his life near Nathula Pass due to challenging weather conditions while delivering supplies to a remote post. After this memorable excursion, we’ll return to Gangtok for a cozy overnight stay.
If you wish, you can also visit the awe-inspiring Nathula Pass at an additional cost. This high-altitude pass at 14,140 feet is one of the world’s highest drivable roads and connects Sikkim with China.
Day 3: Gangtok to Pelling – A Scenic Drive
Following breakfast, we’ll embark on a picturesque journey from Gangtok to Pelling. This drive of about 5.5 hours will take you through majestic mountains and scenic landscapes. Pelling is a charming town nestled amid pine forests, offering mesmerizing views of snow-capped peaks, including the mighty Kangchenjunga. It’s also home to ancient monasteries. After the long drive, take some well-deserved rest and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Optionally, you can explore Chardham & Ravangla Buddha Park on the same day at an extra cost.
Day 4: Pelling Exploration – Waterfalls, Monasteries, and More
After a satisfying breakfast, it’s time to explore the local treasures of Pelling. We’ll begin with the rejuvenating Kanchenjunga Waterfalls, surrounded by lush greenery. Next, we’ll visit the serene Sewaro Rock Garden, followed by the scenic Darap Valley, a perfect retreat. After a delightful lunch, our journey continues with visits to Pema Yangtse Monastery, Helipad Ground, Rimbi Waterfalls, Khecheopalri Sacred Lake, and the historic Rabdentse Ruins. Return to the hotel in the evening for a peaceful night’s sleep.
Day 5: Pelling to Darjeeling – A Scenic Journey
Following breakfast, we’ll set out for the beautiful town of Darjeeling. The drive, though not entirely smooth, will treat you to stunning green gardens, rivers, charming villages, and picturesque old bridges. Upon reaching Darjeeling, you’ll check in at your hotel and enjoy a comfortable night’s rest.
Day 6: Darjeeling Delights – Sunrise, Monasteries, and More
We kick off our day early, around 4 am, to witness the breathtaking sunrise over Mt. Kanchenjunga from the famous Tiger Hill, the highest point in Darjeeling. On our way back, we’ll visit the mesmerizing Batasia Loop and the serene Ghoom Monastery. After a hearty breakfast, our exploration continues with a visit to the Japanese Temple, a marvel of traditional Japanese architecture and an important Buddhist pilgrimage site. We’ll also explore other attractions, including the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (closed on Thursdays), Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Tenzing Rock, Peace Pagoda, and Chitrey Tea Garden (outer view). In the evening, take a leisurely stroll along Mall Road to soak in the charming atmosphere.
Day 7: Farewell to Darjeeling – Back to NJP/Bagdogra
After a satisfying breakfast, it’s time to check out from your hotel. Our representative will drive you back to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) or Bagdogra Airport (IXB). Your memorable Gangtok, Pelling, and Darjeeling journey comes to an end, but the cherished memories will stay with you forever.
